Makeup Haul

So recently I have been smothered by a lot of uni work!! Of course it is generally my fault for not starting my essays early and leaving them to the last minute! I also suffered from the awful cold that has been going around… this took me out of YouTube and Blogging for two weeks, so for my frequent viewers and readers, I am very sorry! Luckily all of that time in bed and on the internet procrastinating and not doing my work led me to the likes of, beauty and and so the delivery man and I have now formed a friendship! Enjoy this pretty long read!!

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.53.48This powder truly is a cult favourite! It has been raved about ever since it came out and the hype around the product is completely justified! The powder melts on your skin and I have found, from the two times I’ve used it, that it really does help to set both foundation and concealer. I have also found that my makeup has literally stayed flawless for the whole of the day. I do my makeup at 8am most mornings and sometimes I don’t get home till 6pm and obviously I expect my face to be a mess, especially since I work as a barista and let me tell you, that cafe is HOT! However since I started using this powder to se my face in the morning, I have found that when I get home, I am just as impressed with my face as I was when I did it hours earlier. I highly recommend the splurge on this product as it is a real game changer for me and it only took me 2 years of persuasion to buy it!

Beauty Blender

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.54.18.pngFor those of you who live her in sunny England, you will know that the actual Beauty Blender is not sold in regular British shops like Boots or Debenhams but is in fact only really sold at Selfridges or online. This has proven to be quite annoying for me as justifying £16 for a small sponge that I pat on my face is pretty hard unless I’m pressured by some pretty makeup artist in a shop! However, I finally took the plunge and bought this after going through like 5 Real Techniques sponges… and let me tell you… this beats every other sponge I have ever tried! I had such a problem with the Real Techniques sponge as I found it too hard on my skin, even after I had dampened it. The Beauty Blender, however, literally blends my concealer in perfectly and doesn’t soak up ALL of the product or pat particles on my face that I didn’t want (the little box it comes in is perfect for storage or you’re literally patting dust onto your wet face). I also made the wonderful decision to buy the nude version rather than another colour, and this is simply because my makeup then won’t ruin how it looks, so if you are going to buy one, I suggest this one as it doesn’t look dirty!!

Morphe M439 Brush

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.54.42.pngThis brush came in the same package as the Beauty Blender, so as soon as I opened it, I couldn’t decide whether to do my foundation with this brush or the Beauty Blender first! I chose to try my foundation with the brush and use the Beauty Blender with concealer to try them both out and oh my goodness, this brush is LIFE! I literally did 3 swipes and my foundation was down and flawless! I have only used this brush with one foundation (the Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation) which I will mention later in this post, but this brush literally replaces every other method I ever used for foundation! Due to how big it is, I manage to do my foundation in minutes which is perfect for me as I usually use a Mac Stippling Brush which is half the size and takes me 3 times as long! So if you’re like me and want a flawless finish in like 2 minutes, then I really recommend this brush!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.54.54.pngI got this concealer based off of the amazing reviews that others have given it. This concealer has fast become a favourite of bloggers and YouTubers and I wanted to jump onto the bandwagon before I was too late. I absolutely love this concealer for brightening under my eyes and highlighting the high points of my face, I mean who uses concealer to conceal spots anymore!? This concealer feels almost like it was designed for the under eye area and it blends in like a dream! One problem I have with some concealers is that they’ve dried the second I put them on my skin, making it incredibly hard to blend into my face.. this concealer doesn’t do that! It stays creamy until it is blended and buffed in, which is perfect for people like me who get distracted by silly things! I got this concealer in Light Warm, and they have a huge range of shades and have recently released 3 new shades for darker skin tones!

Sleek Cream Contour Kit

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.55.05.pngSo I have never tried cream contour before, and despite the awesome looks that have been created using it and the countless tutorials I have watched showing me exactly what to do, I’m still not entirely confident. The reason I bought this kit is on a trial basis. I want to use this kit to practice and perfect my technique before I plunge on a high end kit like the Anastasia Beverly Hills one. Not to say that the Sleek one isn’t as good, I fricken love Sleek, but I didn’t want to spend too much on an item that I may hate! So wish me luck on my adventure into cream contouring and if you have any tips or tricks, let me know!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.55.27.pngGO AND BUY THIS NOW! This is my FAVOURITE foundation right now and it will be for a very long time! This foundation has changed my makeup for the better and I literally love how it looks on my skin! The way it sits and blends in just looks like a better version of my skin and its slightly dewy without being wet. The foundation includes comfort serum and it is designed to be sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours. It doesn’t sit in my smile lines either, which is fantastic because I hate those stupid lines.. I am so impressed with this foundation! They have 7 shades available, which is a shame as I think more should be made, but the shade 201 Soft Beige suits me perfectly and it blends perfectly down to my neck. The foundation is full coverage (which I need) so be warned those of you lucky people who use a tinted moisturiser as a base!

Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot: Painterly

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.55.48.pngI have been trying out different eyeshadow bases for a real long time. My skin is combination so I have really dry skin in my t zone and reasonably oil skin around my forehead (I know, annoying right?). I also happen to have stupid oily eyelids that make my eyeshadow slip and slide till I have lots in my crease and none anywhere else! I have tried the Lorac eyeshadow primer as well as several concealers but it wasn’t until recently that I thought of the paint pots as a viable option! Painterly was the closest to my skin tone and I just layer it down on my lid blending it up and out to make it seamless. It really makes my eyeshadow pop and gives it a way to not rub off and disappear. This is one of those products that I kinda wish I didn’t have to spend money on, but I had a problem and this is my solution!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.55.58.pngSo I may have already mentioned a concealer, but I couldn’t resist with this one! I’ve had this product before and due to my sheer love for it, I figured I’d buy it and save the Naked Skin Concealer for more important days  or videos. As far as drugstore concealers go, this one has to be my absolute favourite and the weird sponge thing attached to it helps so much! I find that it just glides so perfectly onto the skin and the sponge acts as a fingertip so its perfect for placing the product without lifting the foundation underneath! If you’re looking for a thin yet full coverage concealer then I recommend this one!

NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.56.10.pngSo as someone who is primarily dry skinned, who loves matte foundation, I can sometimes look a little chalky or caked up as my skin doesn’t really like to accept products in general. So I figured I would get a dewy finish setting spray to add a little luminosity to my face. I absolutely love it but I have one small quibble…. When I spray this and I’m wearing mascara, I kind of feel it weigh down and moisten my lashes making them look a tad clumpy, so I obviously spray this and then do my mascara, but thats just a heads up if you buy this product! As far as makeup staying power with this product, I really have noticed a difference. I find that I stay looking luminous and bright all day and I can honestly say that the finish this product gives me is exactly what I want.

NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.56.21.pngStaying on the luminous and glowy side of things, I also got this liquid illuminator. I find that it is a teensy bit dark for my skin so I mix it in with foundation rather than applying it on top. I absolutely love this product as it makes a flat matte foundation look so much more glowing and vibrant so for those of you who want to highlight from within and have a soft shine to the skin, I really recommend this product.

NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 10.56.33.pngSo as far as makeup goes, I LOVE CONTOURING! I have been so blown away by the Kat von D Shade and Light contour kit that I thought that it was about time I looked for an alternative to see whether anything better or just as good is around. I bought this off of the recommendation of ShaaanXO (Beauty YouTuber) and I am in love with it!!!! The shades are so perfect for a range of skin types and the formula is so buttery and soft. It also blends like a dream and has never looked patchy or muddy. I love the size of it too, I find that I go through contour kits like water through a tap so the size of a product is a big deal for me. I really recommend this palette for beginners to contouring too as it has a bronzer shade, highlighter shades, contour shades and under the eye setting shades, so this product hits all of the right spots for me, and I will definitely be taking it when I travel!

Overall I am super happy with the items that I bought. They are the types of products that I will use on a daily basis and they are all items that I have wanted for a real long time but never actually bought. I think that companies are really making the makeup game strong and each product gets harder and harder to beat by competing companies, all wanting their products to be cult favourites and sold out in stores. I’m really impressed with the products that I purchased and I hope you enjoyed my rambling about them!! Thank you for reading!!!
